Passport fees can be sent through Postal Order Money (Pos Wesel) available in major post offices throughout Indonesia. Please note that we can only start processing passport applications after we have received payment from the post office and it normally takes 3 – 6 days before it is cleared.

We do not recommend that you place the passport fees inside the envelope as you may risk losing it and we cannot accept responsibility for the money lost in the process of delivery.

How long does it take?

We aim to process all  passport applications within ten working days of receipt.  Please allow an additional of  5 working days for postal applications and applications made at the British Consulate in Bali for delivery.  There is no fast track service.

What to submit

To apply for a UK passport in Indonesia you must submit:

  • your completed application form
  • your 2 passport photographs

  • your previous passport(s)
  • the correct fee in cash Indonesian rupiah.

If you make postal application, please put additional IDR 50,000 for courier fee.

Interview

You may be asked to attend an interview as part of your passport application.

Once the British Consulate General Jakarta has received a fully completed application they will establish that the customer’s identity exists and that they are entitled to a British passport. If a customer requires an interview he/she will be notified accordingly and given a date, time and location to attend.

From 8 September 2008 the British Consulate General Jakarta in Indonesia introduced compulsory interviews for some applicants who:

  • Are applying for a British passport for the first time.
  • Are applying for a replacement passport following the loss or theft of more than one passport over a short period;
  • Have changed their name, except if that change follows marriage, civil partnership, divorce or dissolution;
  • Have not held a valid British passport for more than 10 years;
  • Are renewing an old style blue passport;
  • Hold a British Overseas Territories passport, other than Gibraltar.
  • The British Consulate General Jakarta has the discretion to interview any applicant on a case-by-case basis.

Please

  • Make sure you submit your passport application in plenty of time before you expect to travel.
  • Don’t leave it until the last minute.
  • Allow plenty of time to attend an interview as you may have a long journey to our Consular Office.
